About Us

The Government Study Commission is a group of seven resident-volunteers elected by West Pikeland voters for a period of 18 months to study the effectiveness of West Pikeland's current municipal government and make recommendations for improvements.

The Commission members include: Ernie Holling, Chairman; Meg McGoldrick, Vice Chairman; and Commissioners Al Brady, Christine Keegan, John Matthews, Barbara Miller, and Tim Tietze.

The Commission's role was to: (1) Conduct an in-depth study of West Pikeland's government; (2) look outside the township to find other practices that might be adopted; (3) obtain resident ideas, opinions, and comments; (4) determine the best course of action for West Pikeland; and (5) document the proposed government organization and practices. The Commission concluded its work on April 2, 2008 with the publication of the Final Report and the West Pikeland Home Rule Charter.

Expert Voices

“The work of the government study commission may be one of the most formative acts in the life of the community. . . the commissioners are not acting for themselves, or their colleagues on the commission, but for all citizens living within the community.”
